It’s World Vegetarian Day!

Hi everyone! Since today is October 1st, it means that it’s World Vegetarian Day today! I’ve been checking out some posts on social media as it’s a special occasion for people on a plant-based diet around the globe love (like me!). This day is dedicated to celebrating and promoting the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle, highlighting the positive impact it has on our health, the environment, and animal welfare.

World Vegetarian Day encourages individuals to explore the wide variety of delicious and nutritious plant-based foods available. It serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of reducing our consumption of animal products and embracing a more sustainable way of eating.

It’s been more than four years that my husband and I adopted the vegetarian diet and we may not be the healthiest vegetarians out there (we still eat processed plant-based products, but I eat more fruits and vegetables ever since I became a vegetarian), still the lifestyle has numerous health benefits. Research has shown that vegetarians tend to have lower risks of heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, and certain types of cancer. Plant-based diets are rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, which can contribute to improved overall health and well-being.

Not only does a vegetarian diet benefit our health, but it also has a positive impact on the environment. Livestock farming is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and water pollution. By reducing our reliance on animal products, we can help minimize our carbon footprint and conserve precious natural resources.

Furthermore, embracing a vegetarian lifestyle aligns with compassion towards animals. Factory farming practices often involve cruelty and inhumane conditions for animals. By choosing to follow a vegetarian diet, we are taking a stand against animal cruelty and promoting a more ethical approach to food consumption.

World Vegetarian Day serves as a reminder that we have the power to make a difference through our food choices. Whether you are a seasoned vegetarian or curious about trying a plant-based diet, today is the perfect day to explore the abundance of vegetarian recipes and discover the joys of meat-free meals. We actually went to the grocery today to stock up on our food and we decided to cook our own take on ravioli pasta. I’ll share the recipe on the blog soon, but we did used plant-based meat aside from the ravioli being a cheese pasta to make it a more of a fuller meal for us. It turned out really good!

Anyway I know this post has been getting long but I’d like to encourage everyone to use this day to celebrate the beauty and deliciousness of vegetarian cuisine and inspire others to join the movement towards a more sustainable and compassionate way of living. Have a great day to all!
