The Author

Hi everyone! My name is Sally Mae, the author/owner of Be Meatless website. I’m currently a full time Java Developer, and Be Meatless is one of the many websites I manage as a side business.

I was a meat-eater all my life being born and raised in the Philippines. It was part of our culture to eat meat in almost every single Filipino dish, so I never really questioned anything until I noticed some bad reactions to certain food. I still didn’t switch to a meatless diet then, and opted to limit my meat intake for a while. Upon moving here in the US, I got involved in a blogging group. And the more I meet bloggers who are vegetarian or vegan, the more I got curious about the diet.

I joined a vegan group on Facebook, and in there I found documentaries that are geared towards meatless lifestyle. Since I was still focused on myself, I thought that I won’t be able to remove meat entirely. I decided to be a pescatarian instead in 2018. It only lasted 9 months though as once the chicken craving kicked in, I gave in. Good thing in December that year, I stumbled to a meatless product, and since January 2019, my husband and I transitioned to a meatless diet: vegetarianism to be exact. I’m a lacto-ovo-vegetarian, while he is a lacto-vegetarian.

Why Be Meatless

I usually share our meatless journey on my first blog’s social media accounts. And then I noticed that some of my friends and family asked me on the Whys and the Hows of the transition. I thought to myself: why not create a blog that will answer their questions? That’s when I decided to compile the information regarding our journey. All the effort might even convince them that it’s not hard to be meatless at all! I ended up choosing Be Meatless as the title of my blog (which is also my Company Name) afterwards.

Our Goal

Be Meatless is food and lifestyle blog dedicated to people who are currently or planning to transition into a meatless diet. Our goal is to be one of the top resources for people who looking to be or already are in a vegetarian, vegan or plant based diet. We strive to write articles regarding our journey from being meat eaters for almost all of our lives, and then transitioned to a meatless diet. In doing so, we are hoping that it will help those that are interested to also switch and not eat animal meat anymore, but are not sure where or how to start the process.

What You Can Expect

You will find reviews of the products that we tried (food, drinks, etc) that can help you to be meatless. We will also share the recipes that we have followed or came up using them. Also, this blog provides a list of restaurants or shops that are proven to be vegetarian/vegan friendly. These will become handy on days that you do not have the energy to cook meatless meals. We will make sure to only share brands that we have tried and loved. And all the things that you will find in this blog are our personal views.
